Biography

Guest of the National Theatre Opera The internationally acclaimed heroic tenor studied singing at Cologne’s Musikhochschule. His first engagement led him to the Municipal Theatre in Würtzburg and the Music Theatre in Revier, Gelsenkirchen. Between 1986 and 1997 Alfons Eberz was a member of Deutsche Oper am Rhein. In 1997 he was engaged at the Bonn Opera, where he laid the foundations for his transformation into a heroic tenor. With such roles as Florestan (Fidelio), Max (Der Freischütz), Stolzing (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg), Siegmund (Die Walküre), both roles of Siegfried (Siegfried, Götterdämmerung) and Lohengrin he achieved success on a number of international opera stages, for example, in Berlin, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Munich, Vienna’s Staastoper, Teatro Real Madrid and Semperoper in Dresden, where he was lauded by both critics and audience for his rendering of Tristan (Tristan und Isolde). In 2004 Alfons Eberz sang for the first time at the Bayreuth Festival.
