Alena Miro

Soloist of the Opera

 Alena Miro was a soloist of the Prague State Opera from 2003 to 2011, where she performed the roles of Micaëla (Bizet: Carmen), Pamina and 1st Lady (Mozart: Die Zauberflöte), Nuri (E. d’Albert Tiefland), the Kitchen Boy (Dvořák: Rusalka), Flora (Verdi: La traviata) and other roles. Since January 2012 she has been a soloist of the Czech National Opera. Since 2011/12 season she has guest appeared as Mařenka (B. Smetana: The Bartered Bride) at the National Theatre Brno. Alena Miro concluded her studies at the Conservatoire in Pardubice in the class of Mgr. Jana Hamplová in 1996. In 1994 she received the Jarmila Novotná Award at the Antonín Dvořák International Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary. In 2001 she  graduated from the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Bratislava, Slovakia under Professor Hana Štolfová-Bandová. Still during her studies she completed International Interpretation courses lead by Evgeny Nesterenko and Gabriela Beňačková, with whom she further developed her art of singing, and since 2008 she has studied  with Prof. Eva Blahová. Alena Miro has sung not only in the Czech Republic but also in Germany, Switzerland, France, Kuwait, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, China and Japan. She co-operates with prominent Czech orchestras and festivals. In 2004 she received Gustav Mahler Award from the European Union for the Art of Singing.
