Biography
After studying history of art and attending a course at the designer studio Cours Berçot, he began working as a costume designer in film and advertising. He also created costumes for performances given by popular singers and actresses, including Brigitte Fontaine, Anna Karina and Ingrid Caven.
His interest in theatre has led him to original projects, among them the production Nové ou le Continent imaginaire directed by David Ravier for Théâtre des Songes, Mikhail Bulgakov’s tragicomedy Zoya’s Apartment for Théâtre du Soleil, and the musical La Guinguette a ouvert ses volets for Théâtre 14 in Paris. In 2004 he began his collaboration with the stage director Benjamin Lazar with the production of Moliere’s comedy Le Bourgeois gentilhomme presented by the ensemble Poeme Harmonique. He continued discovering the spectacular and fantasy world of Baroque theatre. In 2006 he participated in the production of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas at the Opera in Rennes. He further improved the manner of using Baroque theatre costume materials and colours during the staging of Landi’s opera Sant'Alessio in 2007 (conductor: William Christie, Les Arts Florissants) and Lully’s opera Cadmus et Hermione at Paris’s Opéra Comique (2008). In the 2008/09 season he co-created the production of the opera with songs Lalala and is now preparing costumes for Händel’s opera Rinaldo, to be staged at the National Theatre in Prague.
In the autumn of 2008 he presented some of his costumes within the exhibition A Thousand and One Nights at Centre National du Costume de Scene in Moulins.
