In the year 2008, Laterna Magica celebrated 50th the anniversary of its first performance – at the world exhibition EXPO 58 where it had appeared for the first time as a programme for artistic entertainment, before it has become a self-standing artistic ensemble. This anniversary was celebrated with a premiere which was actually not a premiere completely: a composed tattoo Cocktail 008 showed „trailers“ of popular performances which are or recently were in the repertoire of Laterna Magica – and as a novelty, it introduced a little multimedia „show“ titled Code 58.08. Spectators will thus watch an extract from the Wonderful Circus, the oldest performance still staged; two scenes from the dance drama Casanova; a fraction of the contemporary composed tattoo Graffiti from which a show of the choreography of Jiří Bubeníček was chosen. There is also a scene from the show Argonauts which was created in the year 2004 for the opening show of the Olympic Games in Athens; and a scene from the show Enigmas which got very good review acknowledgments at its time but it is no more shown, same as the Argonauts. The finish is dedicated to a retrospective of the principles of Laterna Magica. Code 58.08 is a little overview of how movie pictures and digital technologies can develop itself together with dance components in the hands of the young generation in the future. What is not missing is a retro dance scene, a peek behind the scenes and a short excursion to the places connected with Laterna Magica and its activities which the spectators will go through together with the central couple of dancers.
